In the last couple of days, I see more and more examples of “Team Narrative” making concessions to Team No-Thank-You (those of us who resisted the social pressure to vaccinate and “just go along”).
Lots of specific examples out there… more cropping up every day… but the latest that jumped out to me is Scott Adams (of Dilbert fame).
Just now, I did a quick search for “scott adams vaccines” and here’s what the top results were:
As you can see, Mr. Adams admits that the vaccine skeptics were right to be skeptical. But I found this bit interesting from the first article:
As is often the case with comedians, Adams’ tone makes it difficult to discern the extent to which his video may be tongue-in-cheek.
[…]
Adams’s sarcastic intonation seemed to suggest that the recent video was a nod to his many online critics, more a genuflection than a sincere admission of error.
Or the kerfuffle with Sam Harris.
If you’ve missed it, it’s this in a nutshell: Sam was Pro-Vaccine and yet now that he realizes that was the “wrong team”, he accuses Bret Weinstein (who was more and more critical of the Covid “vaccines”) of being wrong in the midst of his right-ness. He (Sam) actually made a claim like this:
“If covid was way worse, then Bret’s position would have been really wrong, therefore his position is really wrong.”
Actual quotes (from twitter summaries of the video of Sam Harris):
“even if Bret was correct, he was deranged for saying what he said.”
“If it were a true pandemic, that only killed kids, and we had a functional vaccine, Bret Weinstein would be wrong!”
You don’t get to play that game, Sam (or anyone on the Pro-Vax side)!
If Covid were way worse, of course things would have been different. But some of us saw through this whole charade EVEN IN 2020! We saw that the disease had a CFR less than the Flu (especially by the time Delta rolled around). We saw that masks were useless in preventing spread. We saw that boosting your “terrain” via vitamins (Vit D, Zinc, etc.) was effective. We saw that early treatment with IVM, HCQ, etc. was very effective. And we saw that there was almost no way these vaccines could truly be that “safe” and “effective”, based on the speed of development and the problems inherent in mRNA “vaccines”.
At the very least, there were a bunch of us (like Bret & Heather) that quickly became “vaccine hesitant”. In fact, that’s where I was most of 2020. Even in the midst of being diagnosed with Lymphoma and going through Chemotherapy, I was hesitant about these new “vaccines”.
I was on the “wait and see” plan more-so than just a full anti-vax position.
But as time passed and data showed more and more that these “experimental biological agents” were just plain too risky to take and not effective enough even without the risk, I opted more and more to be “anti” the Narrative.
I am trying to be a person grounded in grace, love and forgiveness, but by golly, you don’t get to claim the moral high ground at the same time you admit to being wrong.
To the Sam Harris’ and Scott Adams’ (and Emily Oster’s) of the world:
You had your chance. You got it wrong. You went all in on Team Narrative. You could just be humble and admit error. You could ask forgiveness and seek absolution.
But if you don’t, you don’t get to be a serious player in the conversation anymore.
Nicely written!
